Grand Kuranda Experience | Cairns & Palm Cove

The Grand Kuranda Experience is a full-day tour that takes you to some of the most popular attractions in the Kuranda region. The tour starts with a ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, a historic train that winds its way through the rainforest. After the train ride, you will visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, where you can see thousands of butterflies in a lush tropical setting. You will then have some free time to explore Kuranda Village, a charming town with a variety of shops and cafes.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Rainforestation Nature Park, where you can take a ride on an Army Duck, learn about Aboriginal culture, and enjoy an Australian BBQ lunch. You will then take the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, which offers stunning views of the rainforest. The tour ends with a transfer back to your hotel in Cairns.

Kuranda Scenic Railway
Wind through tunnels and over bridges on this magnificent journey, passing Stoney Creek and Barron Falls.
Kuranda Railway Station:  Your Driver Guide will meet you and direct you to your coach, which will transfer you to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary for your tour. 

Australian Butterfly Sanctuary
Marvel at the largest butterfly flight aviary in the country, with a guided tour through the landscaped gardens. View hundreds of butterflies including the famous electric Blue Ulysses and Australia?s largest butterfly, the Cairns Birdwing. 

Kuranda Village
15 minutes to wander through the picturesque Village in the Rainforest.  Markets operate daily.  Any other entries or expenditures in Kuranda Village are at own expense.

Rainforestation Nature Park
Please meet at the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary for your transfer to Rainforestation and experience:

Army Duck Rainforest Tour
Travel deep into the rainforest on both land and water as your guide explains different species of flora and fauna.

Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience
Watch the Pamagirri Dancers and join the Dreamtime Walk - learn to throw a boomerang and watch spear-throwing and didgeridoo playing.

Aussie BBQ Lunch
Enjoy a sumptuous hot lunch overlooking the lake, as well as tropical salads, fruit, cheeses and sandwiches.

Koala & Wildlife
Visit the Koala & Wildlife Park and see crocodiles, koalas, snakes, dingoes, a cassowary and the only Tasmanian Devils in North Queensland. Handfeed kangaroos and wallabies. Opportunity to have your photo taken cuddling a koala or holding a reptile (optional extra).

Transfer to Kuranda Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Terminal
The 7.5km Skyrail journey takes 45 minutes, however we recommend you spend time at the two stations: Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station.

Your coach will be at the Skyrail Smithfield Terminal to transfer you to your accommodation

Gold Class Upgrade
Gold Class upgrade is available on request for $56 per person. Please leave a note when making a booking and we will organise the gold class seats on the Kuranda scenic rail.

Departures

Pickup Locations: 
Return hotel transfers are available from Cairns, Northern Beaches (Trinity Beach and Palm Cove), and Port Douglas.
Departures commence at approximately 8 am from Cairns and Port Douglas and 9 am from Northern Beaches.

Please Note: The Northern Beaches/Port Douglas tour operates in reverse, with the Skyrail journey up followed by the Kuranda Scenic Rail journey down.

Return Times:
Return times are scheduled for 5:30 pm to Cairns, 6 pm to Northern Beaches and Port Douglas.

Exclusion Zones:
Please note that this tour does not provide pickups from Yorkeys Knob, Machans Beach, and Holloways Beach.
