Kuranda Self Drive

If you have your own vehicle, you can save some money and self-drive part of the way.

The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Freshwater Train Station are not near each other, so a one way transfer between the locations is required.

Bookings are essential. Please do not turn up without a booking.

When you book the Kuranda self-drive option you will need to drive your car to the Skyrail Station at Smithfield to meet the tour.
Complimentary parking is available, including dedicated parking for over-sized vehicles including RV’s and caravans. Two Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station bays are available.

Included in the Self-drive option is a shuttle transfer between the stations. Depending on if you are taking the Kuranda Train or Skyrail first, your shuttle with either be in the morning or the afternoon.

Meet at Skyrail at the time of you departure

• Self-drive to Skyrail, Captain Cook Highway, Smithfield
• Park your car free for the day
• Check-in at Skyrail Terminal
• Skyrail journey to Kuranda
• Red Peak & Barron Falls Boardwalks
• Free time in Kuranda
• Kuranda Scenic Rail at 2pm or 3:30pm
• Coach transfer back to your car from Freshwater Station

Kuranda Train up & Skyrail Down + Morning Shuttle
Meet the shuttle bus at Skyrail Rainforest Cableway at 8:15am for the 8:50am Train and 9:15am for the 9:50am Train

• Self-drive to Skyrail, Smithfield
• Park your car free for the day
• Coach transfer to Freshwater Station
• Kuranda Scenic Rail journey to Kuranda
• Free time in Kuranda
• Board Skyrail at Kuranda
• Red Peak & Barron Falls Boardwalks
• Return to Skyrail Smithfield

At the end of your day, simply return to your car and drive back to your hotel.
